Identifying an unsuitable candidate



A candidate chosen to run the trading operations of a leading financial institution provided a series of addresses in his application which we established to be false. Identification of his true addresses, through the electoral roll and other official records, led to the discovery of numerous County Court Judgements totalling £30,000.

Further research through public records showed that, in addition to these unsatisfied County Court Judgements, he had also been declared bankrupt. Interviews with the candidate's previous line managers indicated that he had incurred a large number of personal debts with colleagues and was considered both unreliable and to be in serious financial trouble, factors a written reference from the Personnel department had omitted.
