A multinational company planned to establish a new office in a West African country but had serious concerns over security. Janusian's staff were asked to identify specific security problems and assist in managing the solutions.
Our work started with a full risk assessment, conducted in association with in-house security and operational managers. We then prepared a security briefing for the executives who were to work on the establishment of the office, including comprehensive country and city intelligence and security awareness training. We wrote contingency plans covering major incident procedures, trained members of the corporate Crisis Management Team in the detail of the plan, and staged a crisis simulation exercise.
We also assisted our client's security manager in the identification and procurement of security and entry systems, the location and security of the staff residences and the selection of a reputable security guard force. We subsequently played a major part in the guard force's deployment, procedures and training.
Once the office was established, the company continued to use our staff when problems arose, either for advice or resolution of issues:
- When the security situation in the region deteriorated, our intelligence analysts provided timely and accurate risk assessments
- When senior executives visited the office from Europe, we provided discreet close protection
- When the locally employed guard force became complacent, we organised refresher training
- When new employees from Europe joined the office, we provided security awareness training
- When a senior trader was involved in a sensitive acquisition and was under surveillance, we deployed a counter surveillance team to protect him and identify the people concerned
